It's been a very eventful month since my last post. We took a family roadtrip down to Phoenix to attend Matt's niece, Melissa's wedding. I was a little worried about how Jude would do on a 12+ hour trip but he was fantastic! He slept half of the trip and the other half was spent eating or playing with toys. Yay that he can hold his own toys!! We took many pit stops on the way down. One stop was the Hoover Dam. It was kind of ho hum but the bridge that takes you over the dam was so awesome, architecturally speaking.
There's the dam behind Matt and Jude. But look at that cool bridge. It's really neat to look at it when you are right under it. Look at Jude, he looks like he's having a fun time :)
We stayed in a suite hotel room. Yes, my pun is intended because our suite was soooo sweet! Thank you Hotiwire.com! It was huge! There was a kitchenette with a full fridge/freezer, stovetop, microwave, sink, dishwasher, cupboards with dishes, and a bar with stools. Then there was a desk, a couch, a chair, a coffee table and plenty of space to set up Jude's playpen.
After spending a few days with family, we headed back home via the Grand Canyon. By the way, the Grand Canyon can be a very scary place! Several places don't have guard rails and you can walk right up to the edge. No wonder I had nightmares about it before we even got there. I dreamt that Matt was jokingly holding Jude over the edge of the canyon and then he dropped him! What a horrible dream! Nightmares aside, it was an amazing place and quite a sight.
I had Matt put his hand behind my back so I wouldn't somehow fall off the edge, even though we were standing several feet away from it. Just looking at this picture will probably bring back my nightmares!
Fast forward to today...Jude is four months and two days old. He had his four month check up today where we found out that he is 25 inches long and 11 lbs 13 oz. That puts him in the 70th percentile for height but only 9th percentile for weight. Time to start feeding him more formula. I was so afraid when I transitioned from breast milk to formula that I'd overfeed him. Guess I was wrong! Thankfully the doctor reassured me that I haven't been underfeeding him, he just needs some more calories and will probably be a baby that stays in a lower percentile for weight.
Over the last month we have seen some new things from Jude:
1. If he really concentrates, he can put his binky in his mouth by himself
2. He rolled from his back to his side.
3. Now he can roll over onto his tummy and does it quite often.
4. He is diligently trying to scoot his body somewhere while he is on his tummy.
5. He can hold his own bottle.
Now that you've waded so patiently through this post, here's your reward:
I love this expression!
"Aww man, I forgot where I left my toy."
Beautiful smile!
A visit from Grandma Kelsey means we had three grandparents in the room at once. Talk about a lot of love!
Seriously, you can't pose faces like this!

Gah I miss that cute little guy!
ReplyDeleteGuess you guys will just have to visit AZ more often ;)
He is so dang cute!! His hair is getting so long and I love his big eyes!!! I'm still trying to decide who I think he looks more like lol
ReplyDeleteAt 7 months we finally unlocked the power to saving money on formula... costco (not sure why I didn't think of it before)! and walmart just started making 36 oz cans for 17$.
We miss you too Megan! Looking outside at the gloominess that surrounds us sure makes Arizona look real nice right now!
ReplyDeleteYeah Brittany, we started out with Gerber Goodstart and decided that it would get too expensive so we switched to the Target brand in a large can but I don't get to Target often enough so now we buy Parent's Choice in the large can.
